The plot is average at best. All the actors in the movie do a decent job except the 2 lead actors - Sidharth Malhotra & Janhvi Kapoor. The only standout thing about this movie is the music. I would rate the music 4/5, however the movie overall is a 2.5/5. Its a one time watch. For the most part the movie is family friendly, however there is some adult talk and one kiss scene at the end. I would recommend age 11+. Maddock is known for faking box office and building hype, if this wasn't a Maddock film it would have flopped for sure.

if there's one thing to get from this movie is this comment (above). Absolutely. it's 2025 - we need to go past this stereotype. Embrace the diversity India has to offer. Re: teh movie - it's to be watched in the background while entertaining guests, pausing to watch jahnavi a few times, her dances, her eyes, the cinematography in a few places. She's the only one to carry the movie, while Sid looks like he's ageing faster.

good movie. it would have been a wow hit had the lead role was a malayalee rather than JK... although JK has done a good justice to the role, even dubbing for her own self, the message of love beyond the boundaries of language and culture would have been lot better conveyed and got the movie a better response I am sure with the combo of hindi actor & malayalee actress in lead roles... !! Nevertheless enjoy watching... atleast glad that the supporting roles have got a good malayalee mix as the movie is having core malayalee base, kerala location and most importantly malayalee NAMES :)

Horrible stereotypes... Couldn't even understand the Malayalam being a Mallu. Horrible portrayal of Kerala and could've chosen a better cast.

It is nice to see Siddharth Malhotra after a long time; his realxed style of acting and his disarming smile. Indeed, Param is not just his name but also qualifies the beauty and talent of the Sundari, proving her excellence of DNA that is both from the South and the "Naarth". Param, instead of becoming a Devdas upon rejection, proves his mettle and won the heart of the Sundari, through love, courage and fortitude, like a typical Northie, to finally mate with his soul mate. Love the movie!

Watch this poor excuse of an intercultural love story first (if you can get through it in the first place), and then go watch Godha, a Malayalam movie, and see the difference in the portrayal of the male protagonist going from Kerala to Punjab and navigating the cultural differences as well as the female protagonist coming to Kerala from Punjab and learning about the local culture. That is how it is supposed to be done!

Personally, I find many movies from the South to be really great. This is due to their being more thoughful and imaginative, and probably due to common elements of many cultures of India. Nevertheless, movies from Bollywood have a more universal appeal and greater reach but Bollywood is a very competitive environment.

Yeah and having this reach, they are unfortunately delivering one mediocre film after another despite there being some brilliant filmmakers who go unnoticed because they don't subscribe to the nepotism-based culture there. Janhvi is a subpar actress but she keeps landing film offers, simply because of her family's ties to the industry, not because of talent. As long as this continues, we won't be seeing quality films regularly and maybe a few good films once in a while. Southern films are on the rise and they will replace Bollywood as India's representative in terms of actual cinema.

It felt like the first song was a copy of lungi dance and the movie was a copy of Chennai Express. I wish the story was strong. The actors did their best.

Ok, so all the above mentioned cliches/stereotypes are true! :-). Its like every few years there is a north/south movie trying to tell people not to discriminate. But that I feel will never go. š¤ However as far as the movie goes, yes I agree that there are many gorgeous Malayali actresses that could've played JK's role. Sadly as cute as the little sis was, come on, that definitely could've been played by another smart ass kid from Kerala so at least she could speak a few lines properly. Frm a tamil speaking panju, loving mallu movies, living in portugal! now argue and cus me!! Hah! šš

Music and visuals are beautiful. Could have been a better one provided makers gave attention to details, For eg- the political party workers who wore white with red flags in their hands, toddy drinking driver- not uncommon, but unlikely to someone who would pick people from an airport, accent of the main lead heroin when support actors spoke proper Malayalam etc. The festival of onam is shown in a decent way, women do wear jasmine flowers in their hair during festival season, but not usually every day. Performance wise leads did a good job. Story itself was not strong to reach the hearts.

I stopped watching the moment they showed the Malayalee taxi driver drinking kaLLu (toddy) while driving. Such a cringe movie with the 1970s bollywood stereotypes. No wonder audience are kicking Hindi movies out of the theatres. Shitty movie, please do not waste your time.
