This movie seems like an integration of Paradesi and Aayirathil Oruvan - with failed writing and screenplay. I was in a constant battle with the volume button on my remote as there were unnecessary screaming and just dialogues I could not hear nor understand. There were so many shifts between reality and imagination, leaving the audience confused on what's really going on. I wish Ranjith took a more realistic approach to the Kolar mines he tried to depict. The Buddha statue/head is shown a lot, but not really given value to.

Vikram faces too many epiphanies where the audience are also confused on what's real and what's his imagination. There was no real importance given to the snake and panther fights?? What was the point of that? I didn't get how we were supposed to feel bad about Vikram's son and daughter dying - there was no emotional connect. The one thing I can appreciate in this movie is how Ranjith portrays the dichotomy of how British people treated paraiahs and how higher caste Indians treated them. They were treated as slaves under both, but at least the British gave some degree of respect.

The only humor I found in this movie was when Malavika was slit open and her blood kept spurting everywhere. It was very filmy and comical.

This "real" pain was debunked at court and P.A Ranjith had to pay a fee and apologize. He coulnd't prove anything about the Cholas stealing land. He could only refer to a book which was not based on any reliable sources. One reason why VCK and Dravadian parties is getting weakned by each day

The realm of unadulterated passion and eternal significance is brought to life in Pa Ranjith's cinematic masterwork Thangalaan. The story of natives struggling for identity and freedom is shown in this British colonial-era film. See the film if you're looking for an engaging film that provokes thought and emotion. In addition to being lovely, it offers a compelling plot and clever ideas. The right wing opposes this film being seen by the public in the present era.

The only group that needs to be paid attention is the one which plays victim card and spews hate venom and plants poison among the people's minds for their petty political gain. It is only a matter of time, these games will be seen through by the people of TN.

Saw this movie in theatre. We feel like we are travelling with Vikram on an adventurous journey. We can feel the hard work of Vikram and whole movie crew. Director Pa. Ranjith made the screenplay very tight and gripping. The Tamil dialogues in the movie were difficult to understand in some important scenes which may have caused few negative comments. Since I saw it in overseas screening, there were subtitles. So I was able to understand. Try to see it with the subtitles.

Ranjith is another hate spewing, attention seeking director who loves to disparage the murky past and add his own twists to it to suit his means. The only thing he deserves is a court notice reprimanding him from making this kind of content which causes disharmony in the society.

P.A Ranjith who have always went against Great Tamil Emperors like Raja Raja Cholan and Rajendra Chola did it again. He went to supreme court on this matter and had to say sorry for having no proof. But he did it again using a medium like movie. That Raja Raja Cholan and his son "stole" Paraiyar land to give it to Vaishnavite Brahmins. First of all the Cholas were proud Tamil Shavites. The Cholas even have story of executing vaishnavite rebels. Same Ranjith applaus when the Sinhalese Buddhists destroyed Saiva Tamples in Tamil Eelam. Same P.A Ranjith promotes disunity by Tamils

Good picturization and Sound, Vikram in three roles.. aware of Inception is dreams within dreams.... Sir Ranjith tried with Story within story... present day Thangalaan to Aaran.... tertiary level... but one thing is not connecting is "Aartis Ghost appearance"...and the twice Stomach cut.... cant really correlate... Vikram usually gives stellar performance... both Kenny and Parry screen presence and the love chemistry deserves applauds !!

Pa Ranjith , mari selva raj are playing the trump card of low caste and earning money from it also trying to create hatred in the community , I would say we shouldn't encourage such movies . If I have hurted your feelings then I am sorry but things have changed in our state and country were there is 69 percentage quota to help the community that went through slavery and treated untouchables . I am hoping all are treated same under DMK leadership
