this is called preaching to the choir. Ask any knowledgeable "hindoo" to name the parents of ayyapa/harihar - or ask about arthanaariswar. Down south, ask abt koothandavar temple festival. hindoo religion is quite possibly 1 of the most friendly/accepting of LGBTIQ. Now, if v cn hv a movie showing the luv between Abdul & Ahmed in this "secular" country, it wud be a miracle. btw, let me make it clear: I m not a "hindoo" - based on any non-geographical definition of that word. My birth incidentally may have been "Sakhabde Mero, Dakshine Parsve" - that's about it. I'd love 2 hear how 1 cud self-classify as "practicing" & "proud" hindu - I'm all ears. I can call myself muslim if i proclaim "la ilaha il allah mohammad ul rasool allah" - which by definition makes 1 a muslim. A "good" muslim wud follow instructions in quran, hadith & examples of rasool paak outlined in the sunnah. But "good" vs "bad" is judged by Allah SWT - not by humans.

Hang on, hang on. I think you are refuting your own arguments. In the Quran, practicing homosexuality is haram. So, why would directors take the risk of portraying something that is strictly forbidden in the holy book? Yes, people have to be open-minded and this movie brings out different concepts, which is a good start. However, directors have to care about the audiences, and you don't want to tread on a thin rope. Heck, maybe one day that 'cast' you suggest might happen considering how things are changing in India, but I'm with the directors on this one.

this is wat i termed preaching 2 the choir. When tablighi jamat cause 80% of infections in TamilNadu, no 1 dares 2 openly address it. Instead, they use "single-source", etc. HOWEVER, when a temple-priest (in madurai meenakshi temple) is infected, the same tamil TV channels LOUDLY state the religion. This double-standard will lead the society 2wards collective-suicide. Non-muslims in india will b the next yazidis if directors lyk this continue to brainwash the public. there is no diversity. the movie targets ONE particular community/caste/religion. If this same script was adapted for a certain other religion, the movie wud hv been banned in "secular" india. But, since the religion being portrayed as anti-gay, barbaric, backward, regressive is the ONE religion which views arthanariswar (half-man, half-woman) as god, is the ONE where koothandavar temple-festival is conducted, it is "OKAY" to insult that religion. for neo - this movie wasn't about religion, it was simply about addressing the LGBTQ community and the progression of it in India. It is simply acknowledging a wide percentage of the population and including it into the film industry. For you to not understand such a simply concept is very grieving. it is ayusssmun - wat else do u expect? most movies of his i hv seen r exactly similar. In another movie he overplayed the "caste" aspect. The common theme seems to be to establish that 1 of the world's oldest surviving & adopting/transforming civilizations is barbaric, regressive, backward & that this civilization particularly needs to learn from the crusaders-progeny who once enslaved black-africans and transported them thousands of miles to america, annihilated several native american tribes. not "people" - only certain/particular community wud know - those with surname lyk tripathi. The film shows how certain particular community r barbaric, regressive, anti-gay & seeks to mock, insult, denigrate that community. It doesn't apply to "people" in general; and, in particular it does not apply to those who follow the quran, hadith & the sunnah of rasool paak. The only religion which deserves condemnation for being anti-gay, backward is the one which "tripathi" belongs to. The "ONE & ONLY TRUE" religion is open, progressive & "CORRECTLY" deals with LGBT.

let's say A & B were both gay men & lived in the 1600s. Being gay, they did not ever have coitus with a woman. interesting concept and approach taken to represent the gay community and difficulties in India. Wish there were more movies like this, but seems like the population is divided about this matter and not really open to it in comparison to Europe or the West. What would've been really interesting if Aman was bisexual, would have been even more comical and add another plot-twist. Good start, nonetheless. Decent eye-openers for people who have biased views against homosexual people and treat them with "that" look.

A very good movie yet again by Aayushman. A very good subject to focus on. Very well scripted, directed. Must watch. It is funny how some of us are still not ready to accept someone else's love story. Funny we still think we are right, be it religion, country, culture, or Love. I applaud the actors for signing up for such a critical concept.

Been looking forward to watch this movie, what an absolute waste of time, too glossy, slapstick comedy with no soul. They took very seasoned actors and thought this will work, they missed the point of handling such subject need some heart and sincerity. Characterisation is so week, absolutely waste of time. Instead of this can happily watch Dum Laga Kay Hahisha once again.

This movie deserves way more appreciation, its sending a message about acceptance. Homophobia exists through microscopic social constructs, not in religion. This movie has little to do with religion, but if that's the only thing you see, then you are missing the entire point. This movie is different, and its breaking bollywood's boundaries, no reason to hate. Jitendra and Ayushman did an amazing job and I commend them for bringing light to something that intends to be ACTUALLY meaningful. So if this movie has haters bc of it's message, then this movie is doing something right.

Nice take on the LGBTIQ, eye opener for those who are no aware of the legality of this. Played very boldly by the two guys with terrific support from the rest of the cast, especially the ethos of parents experiencing this in their lives, and seeing it under their own noses. Very brave indeed for the script writer and director to go ahead with this movie.
