Waste of time. What they give message to society violence? I believe education is only thing change many things in the society and community.

I like the movie, but it is too laggy.. Few scenes are very slowwwwwwwww….. I would recommend this movie.

As usual, Dhanush has acted well in this movie. The plot of the movie revolves around a village in Tamil Nadu that lacks transport and other infrastructural facilities. Lal has also played his role very well. A movie worth watching.

Excellent movie. For people who think it is hyped and unrealistic, see what's happening in the US- white supremacy over the blacks is the same 'mentality'. It is very much prevalent still in India, less in TN compared to northern states. Less because of the steps taken by progressive policies of the Dravidian parties. But, the progress is still in infancy, we need to go a long way. So, please don't undermine these sort of movies as 'unreal' and 'hyped'. Kudos to Mari Selvaraj.

Heavy stuff. Relatively small problem blows up because of the ego of one person. Fast paced movie keeps you engaged. But serious stuff - watch if your are into serious kind of movies.

Awesome movie. Yes it’s violent but it underpins the story. Mari Selvaraj has carefully crafted a story with parallels to Mahabharata and today’s complicated cultural composition we live in.

Excellent Movie. Must watch. It reflects our past generation issues. A few examples being, not allowed to use slippers, not to tie a turban in the head, insulting women, showing hatred to people who cannot hit back, etc., Still we have issues today also. Good awareness movie.

Waste of time..

Set in 1996/97, a good attempt to show injustice and lack of unity of two warring villages.

The way the story is narrated reminds me of Greek tragedy format, with old women lamenting and longing for the arrival of the protagonist Karnan in a chorus format (this technique is used again towards the end "utratheengo" (don't give up). The donkey with its front legs tied up symbolizes the village that lacks the transportation infrastructure. People cannot climb up the social ladder. Overall, the story is simple but the way it has been narrated is par excellence.

I must speak up as a Dhanush fan, and to those who does not get the plot and finds the movie terrible.. Although the story does not seem interesting at first or difficult to understand, the storytelling, unique plot and acting by the cast are excellent.. and the donkey is a metaphor, it represents being "tied up" & even the children in doll masks are too. This kind of storytelling has not been attempted in Indian movies, its more so for Foreign movies, theatre and plays.. and i think we should give credit to the crew where its due! Its definitely shows Dhanush as a versatile actor! Well done!

Wow!! After a long time a well narrated movie with a social message. This movie nicely showcases root causes for Naxalite movement in India or other popular uprisings against oppressive forces. One more jewel in the crown for Dhanush. Good work from all actors. Santosh Narayanan's music blends with the movie and finally kudos to Director Mari Selvaraj. Even though viewers won't realize 2.40 hrs fly by watching this movie, next time around try a compact and tighter movie

The underlying story is good, but we are fortunate that we said NO when a group asked us to join them in big screen. We are happy that we made that decision. At home we watched the movie with 2.5X speed during emotional scenes. I have lived in TN villages during the nineties, but still feel that karnan is exaggerated. Definitely no comparison with Vadachennai or Asuran.

Very good movie. That being said, I felt Asuran is far better than this movie. Which had powerful message and storyline.

National award movie...I will be watching second time soon.

What a film !!! I'm so glad that directors like Mari Selvaraj are making movies like this to not only spread awareness but to finally tell the story of our people. Caste-based discrimination is something we don't see spoken about enough - films like these start those discussions and those discussions slowly start to help !

The story line was based totally on a village story were the poor have been suppressed of their basic necessities and the the villagers fighting for it. Some facts and believes of the villagers were a bit strange. All characters performed very well. The director has done reasonably well except for some lagging. I wouldn’t say it’s an awesome movie.

Everything is fine, what did this movie maker got in naming villans as Hindu Gods' Name and Heroes as Hindu villan's names.. why cant they respect every religion's likes.. They talk about equal rights, why didnt they start it in their movie character names.. i jus wish movies be more inclusive as the content talks abt it. So what they project in this movie is not true right.. If the director talks abt equality, he himself sabotaged the belief of another community in making this movie. So you just want more fights & quarrels, no need of peace and harmony.
