Can someone explain the lie detector test where the person says she failed the basic test?

my understanding is a lie detector is effectively read when they identify heart rate / pulse variations, but when someone lies at the beginning of the test, it is not clearly indicating whether it was a lie or not as there is precedence of the graphic measure. the Analyst comes to the cop to say he has never seen such a result, because no one lies about their names.. seems a bit absurd, as the polygraph tests need to be conducive through a pre-test which then determines the normal pulse/ heart beat.

Most confusing..lethargic investigation. At least name of the characters to be named different…it does not line up with the conclusion it draws viewers too. Do not waste time.
