In north India, even Sikhs and muslims call their mother Amma. It's nothing to do with religion. Her gang members give her respect like Amma, which is why she is called Amma. Your neighbouring state, AP or Telangana, uses a similar word, Ammai, for girl and daughter, and Amma for mother.

I'm from South and don't mind the perspective, because I'm matured enough to understand the difference between amma and movie amma. Quibbling doesnt make the world a better place, try harder next time channeling it in the right place/reasons, good luck :)
