This was the real story that happened in Karnataka. (Around 2005 & 2006) the guy used to trap poor, divorced (and even some beggar) females and sleep with them. He was giving the victims cyanide, and many of the female bodies were found in the public toilets of the bus stands. At least 35 to 40 killed. He was not the police officer as per this movie. People need to be careful of such traps. Who knows, someone is still doing it...

'Cyanide Mohan'—Story. Location: Mainly Karnataka (Mangaluru, Bengaluru, Dakshina Kannada region), South India. Period of crimes: Roughly 2003–2009. Modus Operandi: He would befriend vulnerable women, often promising marriage, take them to a lodge, and then give them cyanide tablets disguised as contraceptives or pills after sexual relations. Many women collapsed and died, often near toilets or washrooms at bus stands or in public places, soon after taking the pills. Mohan was arrested in October 2009.

Good movie, but dragging

Mammootty’s skill, especially his ability to carry and elevate negative role when he was at the peak of his career. It suggests that his central presence, craft, and fearless approach to morally grey characters set him apart in Indian cinema. He can switch from calm, controlled dialogue to sharp, piercing moments in a single scene, keeping the audience unsettled and engaged. Voice modulation, pacing, eye expressions, and body language contribute to a sense of danger that is both charismatic and intimidating.

Another oola movie - don't waste your time on it. i wonder how many other movie scenes copied here. This is the last time I am watching superstar movies thinking it will have something new. May be a money laundering scheme - who knows........

"Kalam Kaval" is based on the true story of Cyanide Mohan from Karnataka. Once again, Mammotty excels at playing a completely negative character, which is crucial to the plot, and he is the only actor after Sivaji Ganeshan who has the courage to play negative roles without worrying about his hero image. He impressed everyone with his negative role in Bramayugam last year, and he's doing it again in Kalam Kaval. The film moves at a breakneck pace, keeping you interested throughout. It's a must-see movie.

Nice movie. I liked the fighting scenes in the end were kept realistic. One thing I am unable to understand is how a cop got so much of free time or off time.

Good film

The film has good acting and competent direction and film is disturbing, but there isn’t much of a story to hold it together it has lot of FKing then kiling and more FKing. The psycho-killer theme has been overused in the Malayalam industry, with several similar films released in the last 2–3 years. As someone who values novelty, I found this movie boring.

The storyline and performances in this movie were fantastic. The portrayal of the serial killer manipulating and seducing vulnerable widowed or divorced women was handled superbly. However, Mammootty did not feel like the right fit for this role. He appeared older and lacked the necessary charisma for the character. A younger, more handsome actor—possibly Prithviraj—might have been a better choice. Overall, it’s an excellent movie. Two thumbs up.

Wow. Mammutty and vinayakan. Does Telugu megastar has guts to do what Malayala Megastar did. Useless Telugu film stars and slave directors. Malayalam films rock
