What universal problem?........................... How many men do the jobs they like? Even if the husband was a doctor, he had to study hard to become a doctor and work hard to earn enough money. Above all, in almost every job, one has to listen to their bosses; the same women bear their boss's scolding and almost never utter a word. At least with a husband, women have the luxury to fight, be angry, and stop working for a few days.

I believe the "problem" is a lack of alternatives - for both sexes ... how many wives will accept if a husband comes home one day, and says, "I do not want to go to work anymore. I want to take care of the family"! But this same option is available to most of the women. I think it is also true that many women do not have the option of pursuing their dreams - usually stifled either by tradition or by family responsibilities. This movie has taken the latter issue and has dealt with it very well - my 2 cents

People like you are the "universal problem"! Why do the women have to "listen" to their husbands at all??? Why can't it be like a partnership?? Keep your shit thoughts to yourself and to your family next time! Let this world be a better place.

I believe that this movie, and the Great Indian Kitchen both failed to consider other alternatives ... such as divorce. The plight of the wife in these movies might be understandable if the woman did not have an education ... which is not the case here. The wife had the option to leave the untenable situation, but she chose to retaliate

DK

Not every woman has that option even. Although the lead role has choose that option. Divorse is considered as black mark that you carry till your death.

In TGIK the first wife did leave. He then got another. I haven't seen Mrs. but lots of women don't leave due to lack of family support. It's hard for a single, divorced woman to survive in India without any kind of support. She is considered available by men and also looked at with suspicion by other married woman.

Remakes aside, this is a very decent film with a superb performance by Sani Malhotra. She certainly deserves better roles than the typical ones she gets to do. There are a few exaggerations and loose ends - Richa has only two mouths to feed at home in her Mother-in-Law's absence but she seems to be cooking and cleaning all day. The Mother-in-law does not come home even for her own husband's milestone birthday. But these can be overlooked due to the cast.

How exactly is she "abusing" her husband? Common courtesy and respect, along with communication are qualities you need to have before getting married. If you don't have them, don't get married. It is unfair to place all the expectations on the wife. Doesn't matter if that was how it was in the past.

It's not just the cooking. It's the fact that once women are married, they barely get to visit their own family, are treated as strangers in the "new home" and are told to abandon their own likes and hobbies just because the husband or husband's family doesn't agree. Sure, she may have not been abused physically, but that doesn't mean she wasn't feeling uncomfortable in her new environment.

This movie is a great representative of all women struggle. Men disgustingly Say, “what do you do at home? You always Sit and relax there’s nothing you do at home, I always work”.
