I really loved this movie. I have lived in north east for quite some time and it was disheartening to see how we are treated in Delhi and our other metropolitan cities. I actually saw a Manipuri colleague of mine getting beaten for no reason in Lajpat Nagar. The north eastern plight was well described in chak de india by those two players who said how would you feel if you were called a guest in your own country. Very relevant and nicely played portrayals by everyone in the movie!! Kudos!!

You are right with about delhi and some north cities, NE people are treated with respect in many southern cities like Chennai, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Cochin, Madurai and Trivandrum.

That's not true in my experience. In the apartment complex I lived in, the apartment secretary along with many residents(which included majority meat-eaters) yelled at a Northeasterner tenant for cooking smelly food. It was because of the smell of the food. But those tenants won't forget the experience they had. It makes sad every time I think. I am sorry that I didn't stop them from yelling. I didn't know they would behave in a crass manner.

this movie had a real indie, art-house feel to it. i did find it a bit slow and dragging at points, but it had an important message to convey and i didn't feel it a waste of time by the end. a worthwhile watch, opened my eyes to a culture and traditions i was not previously aware of (marriage by proxy). now i have an urge to try some axone for myself! 3/5

true that, I think us Indians are one of the most discriminative people, most other nations discriminate against other nationalities but us Indians can't even treat people from other states of our own country with respect.

An eye opener - don't be in a hurry to turn it off or reject it because it feels different at first. It's a fascinating story about a group of people's struggle to do something that we take for granted every day. An interesting story that also shines a light on our racism and intolerance of our countrymen & women. Also learnt something new about the cuisine of the North East. Google is your friend :)

I'm not sure how Axone tastes but am confident that it would have some sweet, some tart some spice and some aroma mixed with a lot of love...just like the people in the film who went pillars to posts to make it. We tend to club the whole of north-east into one group but it is several magnitude diverse linguistically, culturally and genetically. These very attributes become their bane as they move in their/our own country! Very well cooked film...just like the axone!

Acting is good, Message is good, but story isn't that good. It could had been better. There is some joke and comedy in between but honestly I wouldn't watch this movie again.

EXCELLENT movie. A must watch. Good story line and shows how we all need to live together with many cultures and practices. There's racism in every country - but we all have to live together. Something that India with all it's challenges provides as the largest democracy.

i have lived near Wilshire Center (Koreatown) at L.A. in an earlier life - for just 6-8 weeks. Still remember the smell. It was korean folks cooking and the apartment I lived was majority koreans. Reminded me how my family had major problem with kasimedu folks and karuvaatu-vaasam (smell of fish). But, somehow I loved the smell of karuvaadu (a type of dried-fish) and never understood why my family/friends were so averse. I understood it at koreatown.

i like north-east ppl just as lyk my own - all of us r family. We had a student from Manipur & he was by-far the best in football & athletics. We had another from Andaman & that guy was equally awesome both in sports & studies. Love all our diverse cultures & traditions. Recent events banning nagaland people from consuming their food, or Tripura temple from their ancient-traditions are despicable. Based on comments, I will NOT watch this movie. Seems like an agenda-filled garbage that doesn't deserve my time (even during lockdown).

Really great movie ...loved watching this movie.....have seen and heard some indians behave in a mannerless way. Cannot generalise. Even south indians are treated differently in the north. Loved the acting...soulful and sweet. excellent movie.....took us into the hearts of these north eastern indians throught their dish.....AKHUNI!!!! Bravo!

original/native south indians (ie, aathi-thiravidar, pazhankudi-makkal) are treated extremely badly in south india itself. 87% of TN population consist of native-origin castes - but only very small percent of govt jobs, political-leadership is available to them. Telegu-origin people (& castes) form around 8% of total population - but they control a lot of political-leadership (especially DMK are fully telegu), bureaucracy, businesses, even kullywud. It is MUCH worse than one-off discrimination by northies.
