Good things first. It’s a crisp movie. First half is slow , second half is so good that you would be waiting for next scene .What I didn’t like It looked like BJP propaganda movie, with AB Bajpayi’s real footage shown in movie and also how contrasting previous and BJP govt was! It totally skipped the role of Kalaam in Pokharan tests. The unfolding of events, specially last chase and fight scene wasn’t needed in a real story. Watch it as a fictionalized version of Pokharan tests and don’t expect any scientific logic from the movie. It is a Bollywood movie after all. Ok movie.

Hahaha, so many thumbs down! why? you cannot take honest review? I like this movie. But there is room for more improvements. What about Kalaam's roles?? Who is Ashwat Raina?? He is not a real person. He is a fictional character. Why talk about the true event with fictional characters?? I gave more explanation. You just want to give thumb up to people who say things like "good movie..." "wow, thanks einthusan" or "nice". I gave detail review. I find this to be hilarious. The more thumbs down i get gives me satisfaction because you have read my review :)

Looks like you have don't realize the difference between a 'movie' and a 'documentary'. Movies are made for entertainment, and their success is measured by how much entertainment they provide. Whereas documentaries portray facts, and their purpose is to propagate real events. Hope you understand the difference next time. :-)

I understand the difference. Let me tell you something. I am not expecting a documentary. If it is a movie, then it needs to be something comparable to "Hidden Figures", "Hotel Rwanda", "Schindler's List", "Imitation Game", "127 hours". Those are movies that closely depicts the real events without using fictional characters. ;) I completely understand the difference. I hope you can understand that movies can still tell real story without use of unnecessary effects, songs and useless drama. Hope you can understand Bollywood still lack the ability to portray true story in movies. :-)

So, there is no alternative to congress and other pseudo secular corrupt parties? Chidambaram gave a lecture in the parliament after pokhran nuclear test. He went on rambling for about 2 hrs on how the world has become a dangerous place since pokhran test. India needs a relatively less corrupt, nationalist, dharmic party not pseudo secular parties. NDA is the best bet for India for the next 20 yrs if it wants to escape massive corruption and pseudo secularism.

After all love to see a Patriotic movie, creamed in a western style. Surprised to see we blinded a satellite by all means...LOVE THE DIALOGUE WHEN THEY WERE ON TO BLAST IT, THE MAJOR COME AND SAYS THE WIND IS ‘IN THE NW DIRECTION AND WE HAVE TO HOLD ON LEST THE RADIATION IF LEAKED CAN DESTROY PAKISTAN... overall like the movie for its simple script ,second half is worth than expected. Btw who represented Kalam Sir here? Any ways gud job..keep making these kinda no masala movies. Jai Hind

This movie disappointed me in every respect. It is like a Bollywood movie with twists and turns and does not feel like true patriotic story . At least 3 in pandavas keep finding problems in every plan instead of come up with ideas to solve it. They are perfect to be incompetent govt employees. Ashwat’s wife is such pain in the neck. She nags a lot. I pity Ashwat. Nakul ( RAW woman) is good for nothing. Only thing she can come up is funny passwords. Director has very poor skills. He is not a good story teller. His slow motion, stop motion is so silly.

Another thing I did not like is : The movie gives a feel that we are doing something 'chori chori chupke chupke'. The feeling it should have conveyed is 'we are out smarting them'.

I agree with you. Bollywood should take lessons from US about how to portray true events. Hidden Figures is a fine example of how to portray true story. Sadly, Bollywood thinks this is how it is done.

they do not want to establish another Hollywood in India. Its Bollywood dude, your critics do matter a lot but don't expect to put complete sense in Bollywood movies. Even after keeping it this much masaledar people chose to watch "Veere di wedding". At the end of the day everybody wants to make profit.

I look at movies like this and compare it with, say, Apollo 13, and the difference is completely laughable. Apollo 13 is heavily fictionalized, but still has an authentic historical feel and manages to portray tension even though we know the actual outcome. This movie is almost amateurish in comparison, made for people who need things absolutely spelled out for them. But Bollywood has to talk down to its audience. "Transparent patriotism" and cardboard storytelling sells tickets....even if it's a crap movie.

@Kevan, dude seriously, you still watch 'these crap' Bollywood movies? We won't mind losing one Bollywood viewership. Comparing 02 different cultures, is just not right. Obviously, they (Holl.) are more practical in thoughts, they may have better execution, graphics, and what not. But Bollywood provide better Emotion/ Drama delivery (IMO). Would still suggest(only), leave the critique to hardcore Bollywood fans and lets try to compare "Apples to Apples" I hope suggestions and comparisons are for filmmakers and not the viewers :D

Pokran nuclear test was a big milestone in India's advancement in its defence strategy. It made the Indians proud and rejuvenated the belief that Indians are very capable in achieving the impossible. I am curious to know how the Indian scientists got the information about an American satellite's orbit to determine the BLINDSPOT! Coming to the movie.. I would think there is still room for improvement. Screenplay & direction was a bit weak. I think some Bollywood masala might have ruined it. Also, I am not sure if John Abraham was best suited for this role.

I like your review :) I'm not sure about the John Abraham part though. This movie was perfect for him as he is great at doing patriotic movies, plus he has also produced this movie. I can't think of any other actor that could have aced this role like John. Can you? :)

Some loose ends, real life was less histrionic and a lot more sober, but bottom line; event did happen, and it's a good example of never underestimating the determination and impulsion of those driven by duty. I always enjoy Abraham because I think he acts just like he probably is in real life; intense. Penty and specially Irani would not have been my choice, if casting this film. Overall I like the film.

Yes, but it also makes you think...they are so determined to do a nuclear test, but they can't apply that same determination to fix crumbling infrastructure, abject poverty, install wells and toilets in every impoverished area and provide basic services for the populace. It's absolutely insane. Movies like this are designed to make people say "Yay! The Indian spirit can do anything! We can be a superpower!"....forgetting that just having nukes does NOT make a nation a superpower. Being completely developed, as well as projecting its national will beyond its own borders, does.

(just taking the above referenced example) Even if they make u good toilets, is it possible to keep them clean without the help of general public or user? Making toilets (etc) is one way of developing a country and conducting a nuclear test falls under a different aspect of governmental policy and as an outsider, we should not judge, mourn or care on what happened/happening/going to happen there. Congrats for whoever or whatsoever we are, just accept the fact, we are not moving back. It is better to adopt US/ Canada trends and leave behind Indian politics or history. Enjoy Bollywood movie(s)

Was constantly refreshing the site for weeks.. waiting for Parmanu to be added. It finally did and cannot complain. Took the stand of viewing this as a movie and not documentary therefore was thoroughly entertained. I already read up the history behind the movie therefore wasn't offended it wasn't to exact details. It is a movie after all.

Watched Madras cafe. They did not even use the word LTTE or Prabhakar. So, I am not sure which part is true or which part is fake. Did not feel like an intelligence agent running against time. I felt that the journalist (Jaya) has more info and contacts than our R&AW guy!!

I liked the movie. Just few parts were slow apart from that curiousness builds up later point of time and our patriotic feeling pitches in many times. We should appreciate and welcome these kind of movies. Add on: Nuclear bombs has high ultra radiations and they didn’t show sensitivity of handling it. It was portrayed like they are fixing some usual regular mechanic stuff.

Entertaining, I liked the movie. A bit of Z TV propaganda but that is ok, they are the producers. Based on very broad facts that are well established in public realm. Watch it as regular movie not as a depiction of historical facts.

Being a kid who grew up in the 90's, I missed out on knowing the significance of the secret nuclear test at Pokhran. Now, I feel very happy to see a movie portraying the mission to its finest details. A finely crafted movie that should not be missed. 5 stars for 'Storyline' and 'Performance'.
