A must watch ! I was perplexed at 1st of a remake but the subject is so important that it needed it. In my opinion this version is suitable for its industry. I couldn't have imagined any other actress than Aishwarya R. doing this role so well

There is no wrong in living "aacharaamana" life. It is up to them, if you feel it won't set for your life style, just get away from that family, nothing wrong in it, but projecting them as villains makes this movie one sided.

don't spoil your family life by watching these kind of movies. How good are you alone without family. If at office you can adjust and work with team members of various attitudes, why cannot at home, home and family should be your life. Adjust and see the change you will enjoy! Happy Family Life!

Adjusting works only if there is a give and take. It applies to both men and women. It is not easy to live like a slave as shown in the movie. In the past, there was no choice but to budge to these pressures. However things are getting better as everyone is allowed to have some level of education and eventually a job. Your point is valid until a breaking point.

You are a woman and you are saying this? How about asking a man to adjust by coming to the kitchen and keeping his own plate and washing it. Wives are not the maids of the house to serve a man at his whim and fancy. They can hire a cook .The wife needs love and respect. It goes bothways.

Mr. Yo Yo M, you can't even disclose your own name then why the .... you are commenting hiding behind your own identity. You should be ashamed of yourself. I also did see some flaws but that doesn't mean you can write whatever. First stop writing S... about other stuff, then come forward and do a honest review.

Lol. So many people's ego is pierced. That means, its damn good movie - even though its toned a lot down from Malayalam version. I cant believe people who live in overseas are even carrying stupid brain yet. Whats the point of going there? just for money ? May your own God save you !!

People should be ashamed to have the mindset to rule women by the name of god, culture, rituals, x, y, z. Sad to see the comments from the USA and Sweden supporting these shit mindsets. Grow up, guys. By the way, great storyline.

In my opinion, this is a clash between 2 different life styles. If their life style didn't suite for you, you can always step out that family and live your own life, nothing wrong in it. But projecting other life style as "villain" makes this movie one sided.

it is not even a "villain" portrayal, it is showing the reality. This type of families have a structur where the woman has nothing to say but has to follow the rules given by the men.

Funny how showing just the reality of things makes you think they're "Villains" essentially.

So you guys think they were not portraited as villain/-ve character? Strange! I agree some families treat women a step lower than men. It is there in every religion and every country. But, at the same time, there are women who accepts this and living with satisfaction (you cannot deny it). So it is up to them on how to be a couple, please don't push a common ideology onto everyone. Again I am standing on my own point, if you (both men/women) don't like the family, you are allowed to walk out, but don't showcase a family's tradition in a -ve way.

Just want to add note on top of my previous comment. There are also families who treats men a step lower than women and there are men who accepts this life (you cannot deny it as well).

World has changed, wake up call for the new generation. Even without religion and joint family in the story this sadness is happening in lot of families. This wasn't the case even with my parents, my mom was house wife but progressive, her father stopped her from studying beyond 8th grade. My dad was the breadwinner still he participated in all household chores.

Hats off to the crew for depicting the life of Indian women in their kitchen. And it’s not an exaggeration at all. An average Indian wife spends most of her day and night in the kitchen. And it’s not just cooking, it’s cleaning, planning, catering to needs one after the other, putting up with issues like leaking pipes, smells etc.. seriously, there are men who can’t fetch their own water. I’m not a fan of the religious disrespect that’s pictured, but otherwise must watch

Nice theme. What does being celibate for a period of time have to do with how women are treated. Taken more as an anti-Sabarimala customs movie than as something that could improve quality of life for women. The movie totally lost track in the last 15 minutes. Movie ends with the "hero" doing round 2 of the same nonsense. Stupid ending (or last 15-20 minutes).

Last 15 min were to show that its a cycle. The guy hasn't changed his views on woman in the household and therefore will remain the same to his new wife; and she will be suffering the same torture. Whereas, the girl has made changes to make herself happy and now she is satisfied. Its a very clever ending.

We need to take all movies with a grain of salt.. if not a spoon full of salt.. Movies mostly portray with exaggeration to make it feel more dramatic and make it a good story narration.. If you have been emotionally moved then the director has clearly won! Take a step back after watching the movie, reflect and move on!! Cheers!

Though the movie shows everything going wrong for her in a 1.5 hr timeframe, I can vouch for the exact same treatment in so many Indian households, in some form of the other. Worst is when women don't recognize this, instead coddle their husband and sons with 'they prefer it this way' phrase. They don't. Let us stop giving it to them. Start with equal household responsibility and treating boys and girls equally while young.

TW SA, domestic abuse, sexism. Everyone played so well. Well-made movie with a very needed message but very hard to watch. Why don't people know what bare minimum respect between people and even family looks like? When women demand to be treated as humans or simply left alone men find it arrogant while men treat them as slaves, property and (sexual) objects, and demand to be treated as gods, kings, masters, and find women rebelling against this abuse disrespectful. Ugh.
