Courageous film making. Funnily this period piece was so authentic that movie felt it was actually made in 1957. Especially ending on that last song, an ode to V. Shantaram's " Aye Maalik Tere Bandhe Hum......" Is it a remake of his 1957 B&W Hindi flick Do aankhe Bara Haath? May be i missed it if it was in the credits Sadly, there is nothing upbeat in this movie. Luckily I watched while multi-tasking, so not completely bummed :) But decide for yourself...

You're right, Sonny! It is a remake of the famous Do Ankhen Barah Hath made by Santharam in 1957, but no credit is given anywhere, so it is a shameless copy, including songs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Do_Aankhen_Barah_Haath
