I had the same issue. I am using a laptop to connect to a Smart TV. When I had the buffering issue, the laptop was nearer (8 ft) to the TV and farther (30 feet) to the Modem/Router as I was using HDMI cable. And, there are multiple walls in between. Now, I keep the laptop nearer (8 ft) to the Router and use "Cast media to device" feature in the browser. This has totally resolved the buffering issue. If you are watching through laptop then it must be located closer to the router or use booster router.
