A music-rich Marathi-language biopic about the milkman and gifted poet-singer, Shahir Honaji Bala (1754-1844) of Maharashtra, who lived during the last years of the Maratha Hindu kingdom. V. Shantaram produced and directed and Vishram Bedekar scripted this lovely, resonant melodrama, which turns stormy in its 2nd half before a benign ending. Panditrao Nagarkar stars in the lead, deploying his own phenomenal vocal talents to sing lyrics penned by Honaji, w music composed by Vasant Desai. A dozen songs are here, 8 sung by Nagarkar, w Lata Mangeshkar & sister Asha Bhosle dubbing the female parts.
