Wow, I cannot believe how cheaper the mentality is getting or can we say the ego is getting bigger. May the Lord grant them some sensibility. I almost said infact the first thing that comes to mind is may they rot in hell but then I would be in the same category, hatred can only be won by love and prayers. I pray their minds get transformed.

I completely agree with you. It's a bakwas movie.. Just because it's based on a real stroy doesn't mean it's a good movie. If someone says they didn't like movie doesn't mean they are inhuman or unsympathetic towards the victim..

The subject was powerful, however the acting seemed stupid. Deepika didn't do well in this character. Overall, the movie didn't cut the edge for me. If the actors and actresses had made it more realistic, it would've been really good like Mardaani 2. The only difference is that in this one, it loses the seriousness in scenes. Like what was the last scene even about (the wedding acid)?? Mardaani 2 however took an important topic and made it powerful and more serious.

So, should they have had shot scenes with women crying or their skin melting? Didn't cut the edge, have made more realistic - should they have included real evidence? In the last scene, it was quite powerful enough and has to do more with common sense. The girl was getting ready for one of the most important events of her life and everything is snatched away!!! What more serious can anything be? I am just flabbergasted by the sheer lack of common sense and compassion in human beings!!

That was a real incident that happened, it was there to emphasise that this happens way too often and isn't taken as seriously. It shows the dark side of our country. I really don't think topics like this should be sugar coated, although this move, in some aspects, was.

cud u share "per-capita" number of prison-inmates in the US versus india? how abt "per-capita" rapes in oslo versus delhi? Facts, numbers, data, evidence - none of this matters. All that matters is optics. It is to establish that one of the oldest surviving civilizations on this planet is backward, regressive, barbaric, violent. Keep peddling the agenda. FACTS WILL BE VICTORIOUS. Satyamevajayate.

What a fabulous film, so well made, some of the scenes are heartbreaking. Deepika has done a superb job. The audience in India still does not want to see raw reality and look at it in the eyes, otherwise this should have been a huge hit and a film all young people should watch as part of education.

a brave movie showing the reality in India. it was not meant to show off Deepika's performance, the goal was to let Indians know that acid sale must be banned & acid throwing is the most barbaric act. definitely not for those who started watching to get 'entertained' by her.

What the heck is going on in India...or I should say, with some Indian males that they feel the need to rape and or pour acid on women? I mean, what kind of sick mentality is that? In this modern world? Why would a person degrade themselves to such level of inhumane? They make the world look down on India...and the Indian government is doing nothing about these case? Wow! ....and for those of you commentators saying Deepika's acting was bad, I have a question for you...how would you prefer she had acted (or I should say, how would you prefer her to overacted?)?

Whether anyone's acting was good, or not, the real point is this is a story that needs to be told. The insanity that prevails in sections of Indian society needs to be communicated. Maybe, just maybe, it will empower more minds to take action, rather than sit quietly on the sidelines.

Ah, a topic that was only read about so far and is now on celluloid. Good job Meghna and Deepika for bringing this to light. It is NOT for entertainment so the acting was as subtle as possible because its the message that was imp.Sadly the movie didn't do well because as usual our desi problem of not wanting to face reality [ some are displaying that very well here in the message board! ] Also that fact that India still can't ban acid shows corruption. Its the actual people that need to change. The supermarket scene was the most touching! Less space or else so much more to say! Keep safe!

Acid attacks are common in India for mainly one reason: Male sexual frustration!!! As we all know, most beautiful and smartest girls are found in the main big cities of India... and the male gender, on the contrary are rather plain looking,...i.e. they are worth a second look when you come across them on the street....this, inevitably, results in a sort of GENDER JEALOUSY, which immensely disturbs the male ego...things get worse when the guy tries to win the attention of the girl and he is rejected....

What a fab movie...the story tackles a very sensitive subject in India where beauty is considered equivalent to a dowry if a girl is not pretty! Kudos to Deepika on her performance. And if they add a bit of romance to show that some people are stronger and come out of these experiences bolder and braver..then so what? Does anybody remember Erin Brockovich? Did the real Erin look as beautiful as Julia Roberts? It made no sense and yet the movie was a runaway hit!

After reading all your comments, I decided to watch the movie. It is a very important issue and I cannot believe we Indians still resort to such a cowardly act toward women. Yet at the same time, I do agree that the acting was sub standard and another actress could have done the main role. Either way, this issue is apparently close to Deepika's heart as she also produced the movie. Eventually, if this can spread awareness among India's youth, the movie will be worth it.
