Excellent period sports movie. The first half was highly intense and the initial 1.50 hours felt just like 10 minutes. Arya has done one of his career best performances in this movie. Hats off to his dedication and hard work. The art department, cinematographer has done a fantastic job . Dancing Rose sequence was the best of all. Pasupathy was fantastic with his natural performance. Daddy's acting and english dialogue delivery was outstanding. Santosh Naryananan's music is the backbone for this movie.Overall a fantastic natural sports movie . Must watch

decent timepass. i felt the movie was too long and overly dramatic at times. interesting side characters. for such a long movie, the ending seemed rushed- moreso than the typical abrupt movie endings i have come to expect. the boxing scenes were totally unrealistic but aside from all this, it was OK. 3.5/5

Frankly Pa.Ranjith showed his screenplay excellence in this movie a way beyond.. and Arya's performance, all these actors are from the School "Director Bala" , and Pasupathi can never be compared... if we delete dancing rose scenes..rest of the movie is a garbage... it was MGR as a CM in 1980 popularised boxing as a sport and organised a boxing match between Muhammad Ali vs Jimmy Ellis in Nehru stadium..MGR had personal interests in sports and martial arts ..whereas theeyasakthi karunanidhi started liquor selling in tamil nadu..also used boxers as rowdies.. ...another dmk funded garbage to spread false information about tamil nadu s history
