Despite the negativity around the film, found it enjoyable. Unlike in the 1st part, which was merely just an introduction, this has the fights, confrontations and twists we were expecting. It's no Baahubali, but it does seem a fitting end to the periodic saga. ARR 's BGM work is just lit.

The movie is something you need to watch to close the Part 1 plot. Well made movie and great character development and actually a good mix of myth and reality to make the historical account interesting. A must watch for all Tamizhans.

The first movie felt so magical with the slow pace and even after 3 hours I didn't want it to end. The second just felt too quick with Mani Ratnam cutting out large portions of Arunmozhi's time in Sri Lanka and not going into depth about Mandiniki, erasing some of the plot twists, changing the story line. For those who read the book the second movie would be a disappointment but for those who haven't both would have been beautiful (1)

I think what might have made PS-2 better is starting it off exactly where we left off in PS-1, beginning with Mandakini saving Arunmozhi and placing the flashback a little later might have done it just some justice. But what Mani Ratnam did with Sendhan Amudhan's character is disappointing. Maybe someone else in the future will make a more faithful adaptation but honestly I think the difficulty of making Kalki's Ponniyin Selvan for the big screen from MGR's time means (2)

that many people might be afraid to do it again in the future. Also those who criticise the story for inaccuracy it's historical fiction, Nandini does not exist, we have to take into consideration Kalki's caste bias which this film shares as well. There are flaws, we need to address that. Critics reviewing the film 4/5 need to actually consider the story the history and not just Mani Ratnam's cinematic adaptation (3)

Mani ratnam spoiled the story completely, he took out the best part of ponniyin selvan by kalki i.e. twists in the story and added useless bahubali like bits to it. For book readers this is similar to taking lord of the rings and mixing it with bahubali. Other than that, this movie is made with pure hatred/vanmam, Cholas are mad about saivism and the pattai is CGed on vikram's forehead. even folk art shown in the soodamani viharam scene is not tamil. it is all telugu. better name tamilnadu as telugunadu

First part is much better than this second part. Suriya would have been netter choice for Vikram's role. Vikram disappointed with his ageing face and the accusation he makes against Sarath Kumar and others looks like fish market argument. Spending so much money Mani Ratnam didn't show the grandeur of Chozhas. Chozha empire was very rich and classy but this movie portraying it as a local primitive kingdom.

I liked the second part too. you can't portray all the characters when you make a movie, novel- you can extend the limit & no restrictions, whereas movie, a lot of barriers, he has to complete the story within time frame, thanks for bringing this movie to us, you can't satisfy every crowd, let them criticize.. but we support you!!! overall very good effort by Mani Ratnam.. Hats off you Sir..

Climax was messed up by dragging it too much. This should have been a great story if KBhagyaraj helped with buttoning up the human emotions around the story plot. If you forward a few scenes you might enjoy. The utopia that movie portrays will never work. Just watch Venezuela

PS2 was fast moving. Great achievement by MR to condense 5 volumes of the Kalki's book. All the casts played their part well, especially Vickram and Aishwaraya Rai.
