Epic movie . Very moving. Very tragic. Brilliantly acted. Haunting songs and beautiful dancing , strong moral lesson at conclusion of story. Shahrukh and Kareena, wonderful!

I give this movie a thumbs down. The most interesting story of Ashok is the work he did after the Kalinga war, when he dropped his arms, spread the buddhist dharma of love and compassion. The Ashoka stupa, the wheel and the lion to this day stand as a symbol of peace in India. The whole movie focused on gory details that I never heard of as student of history. What the world needs is Asoka's story of transformation, not his story of plunder, which is a common story of today. Nothing inspiring about this movie; only sickening
